Have You Seen Suspicious Behaviour Around Properties Being Renovated?

We’re asking residents to stay alert following an increase in burglaries at properties undergoing building work across the St Albans district, including Harpenden, London Colney and surrounding villages.

Please let us know if you’ve recently noticed any of the following near homes that are being renovated:

Vehicles you don’t usually see parked or idling on your street

Cyclists, e‑scooters or individuals carrying bags or small toolkits

Unusual deliveries, utility or trades vans

Anyone knocking or calling unexpectedly.

If you are having building work done and not living at the property, we strongly encourage you to remove any valuable or sentimental items, including jewellery.
Take clear photos of your belongings and record any serial numbers. You can also register items for free at www.immobilise.com

Additional steps you can take include:

Installing CCTV or doorbell cameras

Using sensor lighting

Asking a trusted neighbour to keep an eye on the property or park a car on your drive.
